SMS Terms
Last updated: October 24, 2026
These terms cover the visit reminder texts that LumiDesk LLC (“LumiDesk”, “we”, “us”) sends to patients of the clinics that use LumiDesk. If you have agreed to get text reminders from your clinic, they apply to you.
The short version
- You get a text only if you agreed to it with your clinic. Texts are off unless you do.
- You get at most one text per visit, about 24 hours before it.
- A text never has a link in it, and never says what the visit is for or who you are seeing.
- Reply STOP at any time and the texts stop at once.
- Message and data rates may apply.
Who sends the texts
Clinics use LumiDesk to run their schedule, and LumiDesk sends visit reminders on the clinic’s behalf. Every reminder comes from one LumiDesk toll-free number and opens with your clinic’s name so you know who it is from.
LumiDesk writes the reminder and the consent wording your clinic uses. Clinics cannot change either, so every reminder follows these terms whichever clinic you visit.
How you agree
Texts are off by default. They start only after you agree to them, and your clinic records that you did:
- Your clinic’s staff show or read you a short statement describing these texts, and ask whether you want them.
- If you say yes, they record your agreement against one mobile number. We keep a record of the number, when you agreed, how you agreed (in person, verbally, or in writing), who recorded it, and which version of the statement you were given.
Agreeing is optional, and is not a condition of any purchase.
Your agreement is for the number you gave. If you change the phone number your clinic has for you, texts do not move to the new number. To get texts there, agree again for that number.
When your agreement is recorded, we check the number and refuse a landline or a number that does not exist.
What the texts say
You get at most one text for each visit, sent about 24 hours before it. If you have several visits booked, you get one text for each.
A reminder contains no more than:
- your clinic’s name;
- your first name, so that anyone who shares your phone knows whose visit it is;
- the location of your visit;
- the date and time;
- the location’s phone number, to call if you need to change the visit.
A reminder never contains a link, what the visit is for, or which clinician you are seeing, because a text can be read on a locked screen. Every reminder ends with “Reply STOP to opt out.”
If your clinic also sends you reminders by email, those are separate. Stopping one does not stop the other.
How to stop the texts
Reply STOP to any reminder. The texts stop at once.
Because every clinic that uses LumiDesk sends from the same number, STOP stops reminders from all of them, not just the clinic that sent the text you replied to.
Only you can undo a STOP. To get texts again, text START to the number the reminders come from, and ask your clinic to record your agreement again. It takes both: your clinic’s staff cannot restart the texts on their own, even by recording your agreement again.
You can also ask your clinic’s staff to withdraw your agreement. They record it, and the texts stop.
Help
For help with the texts, reply HELP to any reminder, or email hello@lumidesk.io. For anything about the visit itself, call your clinic on the number in the reminder.
Charges
LumiDesk does not charge you for these texts. Your mobile carrier’s message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan.
Delivery
We hand each reminder to our messaging provider, which passes it to your mobile carrier. We can’t guarantee that a reminder arrives, or arrives on time, and mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. A missed reminder doesn’t change your visit, so keep track of your appointments in the way you usually do.
Your information
Your mobile number, your agreement, and the reminders we send are part of your clinic’s records, which LumiDesk keeps as the clinic’s business associate under HIPAA. We use your mobile number only to send the reminders you agreed to.
We never use your number for marketing, and we don’t sell it. We don’t share your mobile number, or your agreement to get texts, with any third party for marketing or any other purpose of its own. The only others who handle them are our messaging provider and mobile carriers, to deliver the reminders. Our Privacy Policy has more on how we handle it.
